An Afternoon at Marquês de Pombal

So, this post will be in English for those of you who might be following back in the States.  (Trying to think in English after writing two posts in Portuguese is actually quite difficult…)  I have been considering, as my journey reaches its halfway point, about what I have posted here for others to see, and I realized that I have been focusing less and less on the simple aspects of my day that I have come to treasure.  Lisbon is a city whose beauty, rhythm, and life have truly fallen in love with, and when everything is a highlight, there is nothing superfluous I can show you!

I often forget that the people I know back home don't see the things I see, the things I am so privileged to see, so here goes.

Every morning on my way to FCSH, my bus passes up Rua Braamcamp and around Marquês de Pombal.  I have not yet posted a picture of Praça do Marquês de Pombal, or of Avenida da Liberdade, which spills into Baixa to the south, or of Parque Eduardo VII, which climbs up to Campolide in the North.  How can this be, when I see it at least 10 times a week, have passed under and around it more times than I can count?

For your viewing pleasure, a piece of my Portuguese everyday:

Rua Braamcamp, toward Praça do Marquês de Pombal.

And here it is!  Marquês de Pombal.  Below is Avenida da Liberdade.

Parque Eduardo VII, where the tour buses are always parked.

And now, the park.

And, at the entrance to the Metro, the sign pointing back to the part of the city I know best, the part where I live.
